worth celebrating
Hello earthlings! Don't feel left out if you're an extra terrestrial cos fkurfg pafbfm to you too!
Ah. Newwww yeaaaaar! Kinda reminds me of Empire State of Mind, you know, like NEWWW YOOOORK! Gotta love that song.
Where was I? Oh right. NEW YEAR! Chockful of exciting things that have yet to take place and awesome stuff waiting to happen! Isn't it ridiculously wonderful that right now, at the start of 2010, you get to decide what you want and what you get and what you deserve for the rest of the year? The slate's been wiped clean and you choose what to write or doodle or paste on it (scrapbook loving). Bloody frigging awesome.
Before this year, I never really understood why people made new year resolutions. Okay, I understood WHY they did it but figured it just wasn't my thing. How many of those resolutions were actually followed through, or remembered even?
Exactly.
But this year will be different. Cos I'm not the me of past. I fully intend to pull a 180 and become a me that I want to be. And I figured new year resolutions were a good place to start and kinda function as a To-Do list that spans a year. Which is cool but also kinda sad cos you only get to cross them out at the end of the year, and i LOOOVE crossing out stuff on my to-do list. In fact, I love it so much that I add stuff I've done that were initially not on the list just to be able to cross them out. Occasionally. Sometimes. Rather often. RIGHT, we should just stay on topic shall we?
So, new year resolutions. The point is to set realistic, achievable ones to aid in the act of following through. Okay. So here we go.
1. Reconnect with old friends, Maintain current pals and Make new ones
Which could be summarized succinctly as "Be more sociable".
It was a tough lesson learnt after a rather rough patch (think sandpaper covered with jutting rocks and razor sharp shards of glass) and it was a good lesson learnt. I've always been rather passive about maintaining friendships, not taking the initiative to do much. But NO MORE! These amazing people are well worth the effort and effort I shall make. So a big thank you to all of you (you know who you are) who have stood by me through all the craziness and I really really love you guys. It'll be a great year!
2. Be a positive chillax bitch (okay scrap the 'bitch' part)
If anyone were to ask me a year ago to describe myself, the words cynical and jaded were bound to surface. I was a dooms and glooms kinda person, often indulging in huge bouts of self pity and emo-ness. And you know what? It sucked, and also literally sucked me into this supermassive black hole (but what an awesome song is that?!) of anger and sadness and hopelessness. I can't think of a more awful way to live. So NO MORE! (again) Why wallow in sadness when you can frolic in happiness! Cos it's a choice really, and I choose to be happy.
3. Make Shop a Crazily HUGE Success
I will put my heart my soul my time all my effort and everything I've got into this. Because it's what I want and I know I can get. Because I believe I can and I will. Only when you dream big can you achieve anything and everything.
4. Less procrastination
I did say realistic and achievable didn't I? I know myself and 21 years of procrastinating just about everything ain't gonna be completely annihilated in a year. At least I'm honest about it. Haha. So I do solemnly promise to always remember to live in the present and recall the importance of the right now everytime I feel the urge to procrastinate. Baby steps people. Baby steps.
5. Update this blog more often and stick to happier stuff (neutral at the very least)
This is my version of a brown paperback notebook with a pretty looking heart on it. To keep me positive (resolution no. 2), motivate me to get out of my shell (resolution no. 1) and fulfill my resolutions (all of the above). Just something I can flip through (figuratively) and put a smile on my face. This should be one of my happy places.
I guess that's about it. There are many more I would like to add but I think I'll just stick to these for the time being. Besides, I can always add more when I've actually accomplished them so I can cross them out. Some habits are harder to rid of than others. Haha.
New year, fresh start. Are people ready for you? Who could be arsed! Knock 'em dead!
This is gonna be awesome.
